Simple Doll Eye with Barbie Pink Lips (MAC Pink Nouveau)
—-
I’ve been on a bit of bright lipstick kick recently, even at work. And I know my colleagues’ eyes were popping when I wore Airborne Unicorn to work the other day, and then Pink Nouveau today.
So it was natural that I began to think of a fun “dolly” look that would be simple to do (no contouring or cut-crease) but still wearable and perfect with a bright lip.
The cornerstone of this look is the intense pink blush and strong, matte, cool-pink lipstick. The eyes are defined, but don’t take the spotlight.
—-
Step 1: I stuck tape to the outer corners of my eyes so I could get a really smooth and strong kitten eye liner. A dolly doe-eye should not be too cat-like, so don’t angle the tape too high. Your liner should come pretty much to the outer corners of your eyes before flicking upwards and out.

—-
Step 2: Use a black gel liner (liquids will be extremely hard to control unless you’re an expert, and pencil would be smudgy and imprecise) and a tiny paddle-shaped liner brush (not the super fine kind) to draw a strong but not overly-thick line along the lashes from inner corner to the edge of the tape. Then in reverse direction, draw black down from the outer corners in to meet the black line along your lashes.

—-
Step 3: To soften and warm up the lids, I applied a very sheer golden wash over the lids,  including the liner, which should still be dark but taken on a bit of sheen.
—-
Step 4: Apply a strip of spiky, separated lashes, taking care to position them further towards the outer corners than you normally would, to emphasize the doe eye. Then apply lots of black mascara to the bottom lashes.

—-
Step 5: Now that the eyes are done, apply a strong cool pink to the cheeks. I used MAC Coygirl but any intense matte pink with cooler undertones will do.

—-
As a final step, slick on a coat of MAC Pink Nouveau, the perfect semi-matte Barbie pink. (This shade is bright but works on almost all skin tones.)
