Some favorite beauty products the past couple of months!

Vichy Normaderm Total Mat Fresh Hydrating Gel

This is a fantastic shine-control day lotion to wear under makeup if you’re prone to shine either from oil-production or sweating in a humid environment. Slightly different from the other lotion in the range, this formula contains a cocktail of absorbent ingredients like Perlite, multiple crosspolymers, as well as nylon. It also contains salicylic acid to reduce the size of oil plugs inside your pores.

It’s not going to stop sweat (you should be worried if it does) but it does keep my makeup fresh for longer.

Warning: contains alcohol and salicylic acid so avoid lips and eyes.

Philosophy Hope in a Jar Night

I love this stuff. LOVE. It’s kept my pre-menstrual breakout prone skin silky smooth. No mean feat. If you want to read a more detailed review, click here.

Face Products

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage

A rediscovered old favorite. I neglected it for quite a while but had a period of bad skin a few weeks back (before I started on my Hope In A Jar Night) and pulled this out to use again. It’s so pigmented and dry that unlike most other concealers, it doesn’t shift around much when you’re patting and blending, which makes concealing raised bumps 10x easier than a creamier formulation. It also doesn’t grab your setting powder and darken it.

Benefit Box o Powder in Rockateur

I’m making a dent in this; the “Rock” imprinted on it is almost gone. It’s luminous blush and bronzer in one for medium-light skins and never goes on streaky or heavy. Great for me because I am a bit OCD with blusher and I’d rather skip it altogether than have any unevenness or patchiness.

The Body Shop Shimmer Waves in Coral

This is on the other end of the spectrum to Rockateur. It’s a blush and highlighter in one. There’s enough color that it works on me as a soft peach-toned blush, and it’s fine-grained enough that I don’t look like a discoball when I apply it all over my cheeks.

Color Products

MAC Bare My Soul Quad (discontinued)

I have a tendency to neglect limited edition things because I hate talking about them repeatedly when you guys can’t get hold of them anymore. But I do have to say this has become the quad I reach for daily when I want soft silky browns for work. (Obviously from the image, the dark green is the least used because it’s so dramatic and I don’t wear it daily…)

NYX Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait

I’m in a glossy-lip phase right now. I love the soft coconut-y scent (it’s not too heavy) of the range and the smooth melting texture. (No gunk in the corners of the lips.) My favorite shade has to be Strawberry Parfait, a translucent Barbie pink that just goes on like a soft, healthy tint.

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in RD413 Sanguine

I’ve been using this so often I’m afraid it’s going to run out any day now. This glossy red is sheerer than some of the other lacquer rouges from Shiseido, but I love it because it’s so versatile. It gives me the option to go from sheer and juicy (apply with a light hand) at work, to lacquered and candy-like (layer for intensity) on the weekends, to intense and lacquered (apply over red liner) for a night out.
